Despite a recent severe spine injury, Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis is still on the practice field for training camp in San Antonio.
DeCamillis was injured this spring while working with rookies in a tent-like bubble at the Cowboys practice facility. The tent-like bubble was destroyed by high winds. The destruction injured 12 people, including DeCamillis and a scouting assistant who was paralyzed by the accident.
DeCamillis had surgery to repair the broken vertebrae, but was back on the practice field 16 days later. Wearing a neck brace at practice, DeCamillis has become an inspiration for the team, head coach Wade Phillips said.
