Posted on December 4th, 2013 No Comments

Police authorities have identified the man who was a victim of a car accident on Monday, November 25 on the South Side of San Antonio, Texas as 49-year-old Jimmy Medrano.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office declared Medrano dead at around 4 p.m. due to multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the incident when emergency medical responders and examiners tried to revive him on Hackberry Street the same day.

According to police authorities, the driver who cost Medrano his life, 31-year-old Roxanne Campa, lost control of her Toyota Avalon, veered away from the roadway, and hit Medrano, who was in a stationary position on the sidewalk near South Hackberry Street and Fair Avenue.

A seasoned journalist, who was most famous for a piece published in Rolling Stone magazine, was killed in a car crash in Los Angeles on June 18.

Journalist Michael Hastings, whose feature article exposed U.S. general McChrystal and led to his resignation, was killed in a car wreck, according to BuzzFeed Editor-in-chief Ben Smith. Details confirming Hastings’ death were not available immediately after the announcement; however, police said a fiery fatal accident occurred a day before the announcement of Hastings’ death and involved a man who was burned to death after his vehicle struck a tree near Hollywood. Further investigation was needed to identify the burned driver.

Hastings used to cover wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The legal team at the Chris Mayo Law Firm sends their sincere condolences to the family and friends who were affected by Hastings’ death.

West Side Crash Kills Man

Posted on February 15th, 2013 No Comments

A driver was instantly killed after a car rear ended his vehicle on West Side Highway, Sunday officials said.

The unidentified driver was reportedly moving slowly when a car driven by a uniformed off-duty deputy of Bexar County Sheriff’s Office slammed into the back of his car, San Antonio police reported. Officer Michael Moore said the off-duty deputy was surprised when the slow moving vehicle apparently swerved in front of his car. The two vehicles then slammed to a concrete barrier, pinned the other driver inside his car as a result of the impact. The pinned driver was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation by military personnel who happened to be also on the scene, but could not be revived. Two other passengers of the rear ended car were rushed to the hospital for minor injuries.

The off-duty deputy himself was reportedly uninjured and is unlikely to face criminal charges.

Losing a loved one, particularly in an unexpected accident, is difficult. Our attorneys at the Chris Mayo Law Firm send their thoughts and condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the driver killed in this accident.
