1 Killed, 5 Injured in San Antonio Auto Accident

One person was killed and five others injured in a San Antonio auto accident Wednesday.

According to officials with the San Antonio Police Department, 18 year-old Alejandro Javier Velasquez died shortly after midnight Wednesday morning when his car veered into the opposite lane into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV head-on. “A Chevy Malibu headed west towards Laredo Veered into the eastbound lane and hit head-on with a Chevy Tahoe,” a police spokesperson said.

Five people in the Chevy Tahoe were injured in the crash. They were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment. Three were later flown to San Antonio hospital. The victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Police believe speed contributed to the car accident.

One killed in single-vehicle crash

According to police, speeding was the main cause of a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred early Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 6:15 AM Thursday about one and a half miles south of Loop 410.

Police say the 35-year-old driver of the car was headed southbound in the 10700 block of Zarzamora Street, on his way to work, when he lost control of the vehicle. It struck a utility pole and the crash killed the driver.

Speeding accident results in death

According to police, reckless driving – specifically speeding – is to blame for the death of a passenger in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Highway 90 west at loop 410.

Witnesses to the crash told police that the driver of the car was traveling at a very high rate of speed when the car swerved. The suvsequent rollover killed a female passenger in the car.

The driver of the car was critically injured and taken to Wilford Hall hospital.
