Crash on I-37 injures one man

A car accident at 6:30am Sunday morning on the South Side left one man with serious injuries to his face.

A 29 year old man was driving a Chevrolet Impala northbound on I-37 behind a paint truck when police believe he fell asleep at the wheel crashing his vehicle into the back of the pickup truck.  The car became wedged under the truck after both vehicles drove off the side of the highway onto an access road.

The windshield of the Impala shattered injuring the face of the 29 year old man.  He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.  The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries.

Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run

Robert Carter, 49, was identified as the motorcyclist killed in an ongoing investigation of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Sunday morning near Loop 410 and McCullough.  Police said that Carter was struck from behind sending him 300 feet.  The car drove away, and then, tragically, a second car ran over Carter.  Police arrested the driver of the second vehicle charging them with driving under the influence.  Authorities have still not found the driver of the first car, but have stated that once found, he or she will be charged with failure to stop and render at aid at the scene of a crime.

Man Injured in Tucson Hit-and-Run Truck Accident

A man was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Tucson early Tuesday.

According to officials with the Tucson Police Department, 59 year-old Donald Jones was injured in an accident shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 10. Police say Jones was driving a Ford F-150 in the westbound lanes of I-10 when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Toyota Corolla near the Loop 1604 exit. The impact of the crash sent Jones’ pickup into a guardrail, causing the truck to roll multiple times until it came to rest against a concrete overpass.

Jones became trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. He was transported by ambulance to University Hospital with minor injuries.

According to police, the driver of the Corolla walked away from the crash. A witness saw him get into a truck that fled the scene.

The Corolla had not been reported as stolen, police say. If the driver is found, he could face a charged of failure to stop and render aid.

Authorities say the Corolla’s driver was speeding and following too closely.

Man struck and killed in hit-and-run

A 35-year-old Mexican immigrant was struck and killed around 3 a.m. Sunday morning in a hit-and-run at Loop 1604 and Emerald Forest. The man was meeting a coworker to help her refuel her car, which had run out of gas, when he was struck by a green F-250 pickup truck or Ford Explorer.

The man worked three jobs to support his family back in Mexico. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying this hit-and-run driver and bringing him to justice.

Hit-and-run driver sends six people to hospital

According to police reports, a hit-and-run driver collided with two vehicles on Interstate 35, near the Fischer Road exit, around 9:30 on Monday night. Police believe the driver’s vehicle was a white pickup truck. The truck sideswiped a BMW,  resulting in both breaking through wire barriers in the highway median. The truck then collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The injured persons are believed to be 2 children and 4 adults, one of whom was 8 months pregnant. Quick action by EMS services insured that the patients were transported as soon as possible to different local hospitals, although police are now experiencing trouble locating them. Police are also searching nearby gas stations and the surrounding area for the white pickup truck, which is believed to have severe body damage.

Kirby student injured in hit-and-run accident

A Kirby student was injured in a hit-and-run accident Thursday. According to police reports, the student was crossing the street when the student was hit by a vehicle.

When medical officials arrived to the scene, the student was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After the accident, police did not have any suspects and were investigating the incident.
