Christmas Tour on Government Hill

San Antonio car accident lawyers of Chris Mayo Injury Lawyers are thrilled to announced the Government Hill Neighborhood Association’s 15th Annual “Christmas on the Hill” Tour of Homes.

The tour is complete with a horse-drawn carriage and the children can get their photo taken with Santa Claus. The Government Hill neighborhood between 1890-1930. One home on the tour, Lambermont, just completed a three year renovation process. Government Hill’s architecture is from the turn of the century, the neighborhood is located just next to Fort Sam Houston.

The money made from the annual tours goes into beautification projects to continue to restore this historic neighborhood.

DWI crash leads to 1 killed and 1 injured

On early Thursday morning, one person was killed and another injured in a car collision on Highway 90 at 36th Street.

The suspect was driving a car that rear-ended an SUV with two passengers.  The SUV flipped three times after crashing through a guardrail and falling down an embankment.  Police believe the suspect was drunk and waited at the scene for several minutes until he drove off.

Police arrested the man on Highway 151 between Callaghan and Military Drive, and charged him with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

One of the passengers died, and the other was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Four injured in wrong-way drunk driving accident

According to San Antonio police, four people were injured when a man speeding the wrong way on Loop 410 smashed into their vehicle head-on.

The accident occurred Sunday morning around 7 AM near the Broadway Street Exit on Loop 410. The 21-year-old driver of a green sedan was headed west in the eastbound lanes and crashed into a silver sedan going the right direction.

The three occupants of the car were injured, while the driver of the green sedan was critically hurt. Police say he was going as fast as 90 miles per hour.

All four were taken to University Hospital. Police say that the driver of the green sedan was intoxicated and will face charges of intoxication assault.

Three injured in three-vehicle crash

Several people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the city’s north side.

Police report that the accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 281 and Overlook Parkway around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses saw a a pickup truck run a red light and hit an SUV, which then rolled over and struck another vehicle.

All three passengers in the SUV were rushed to the hospital in unknown condition.

Hit-and-run drunken driver arrested

San Antonio police early Saturday arrested a motorist on intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid charges after a drunk driving hit-and-run accident near downtown.

San Antonio police arrested a 32-year-old woman early Saturday morning on charges of intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid in a hit-and-run accident.

The accident occurred around 1:15 AM on Saturday, when the woman’s vehicle crashed into one driven by a 26-year-old woman on Interstate 35 at McCullough Avenue.

The 32-year-old woman and her passenger were seen by witnesses leaving the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot. When questioned by police, the woman said she did not own a car and had taken the bus home.

The 26-year-old woman struck in the hit-and-run suffered a broken arm and is being treated in a local hospital.

San Antonio ranks 163rd of 200 in driver safety

The 2010 Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report, released this week, ranks San Antonio as the 163rd out of the 200 largest cities nationwide when it comes to safe driving.

In 2009, San Antonio was ranked 168th out of 200.

The ranking is based on car collision frequency to determine which cities are the safest based on Allstate data.

The average San Antonio driver is involved in an accident once every 7.7 years on average, according to the data, and they are 30.2 percent more likely to have an accident compared to the national average.

Three killed, four injured in single-vehicle crash

Four people were killed and three others were injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident last Friday. The 2002 Ford Explorer carrying the seven occupants was heading north on Interstate 37 around 5:55 PM in Atascosa County, south of San Antonio, when the driver lost control and rolled over.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the 21-year-old male driver, a 4-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 28-year-old woman were killed in the crash. An 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, and a 31-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.

The children were taken to University Hospital in San Antonio, while the woman was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center.

San Antonio man killed in alleged single-car accident

A San Antonio man was killed in a car accident Sunday. According to police reports, the accident occurred on Loop 410 near Nacogdoches Road in San Antonio.

The man’s car apparently crashed against a tree. The accident may have been caused by an initial accident in which two other cars collided. When medical officials arrived at the scene of the auto accident, both the driver and passenger were taken to nearby Northeast Baptist Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.

19-year-old suffers injury in motorcyle accident

A 19-year-old New Braunfels man was airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio following a motorcycle accident Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The crash occurred at 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of S. Walnut Avenue when the motorcyclist was forced off the road by the driver of a pickup truck. The driver attempted to merge onto the road in front of the motorcyclist, but misjudged his speed. When the 19-year-old swerved to avoid the truck, he hit the curb and was thrown from the bike.

Emergency medical workers airlifted the man to University Hospital, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

One killed in two-motorcycle accident

A 37-year-old San Antonio motorcyclist crashed into another motorcyclist in Southeast Bexar County around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The collision threw both riders off their bikes and onto the road, critically injuring the 23-year-old driver of the second motorcycle.

The accident happened near Loop 1604. Authorities do not know what caused the initial accident. A witness to the crash who pulled over to help attempted to stop a maroon Chevrolet pickup but its driver did not see the 37-year-old motorcycle rider lying in the road and struck him, killing him.

The 23-year-old remains in critical condition at University Hospital as of yesterday.
