Jonathan Esquivel, 28, of the San Antonio Police Department was hit by a pickup truck on Sunday evening and is in critical condition.

Esquivel was placing traffic cones at the scene of an earlier crash in the westbound lane of Loop 410 near Summit Parkway when Shad Christopher Modesett, 40, avoided hitting other vehicles on the road and hit Esquivel.  Modesett was given a $100 ticket for speeding but was not charged for hitting Esquivel.  Modesett stated that he “looked away momentarily” and swerved.

San Antonio bus driver crashes into parked SUV

Posted on August 31st, 2011 No Comments

A bus carrying five passengers crashed into a parked SUV on Tuesday night, injuring two.

According to a San Antonio police detective, the VIA Metropolitan Transit bus was traveling north on Flores Street around 9:45 pm when it crashed into a parked GMC Suburban. The collision caused the Suburban to slam into a pole before being dragged into a grassy area.

Out of the five passengers on the bus, two were taken to Metropolitan Methodist Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A woman passenger hit her mouth against a pole in the bus, and a man bruised his chest when he hit a support post during the crash. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

The bus driver did not appear drowsy or intoxicated, and it is believed that the accidental crash occurred due to the dark color of the vehicle and bad lighting conditions.
