Co-owner and heiress of the Mars Inc. candy company, Jacqueline Badger Mars, faces misdemeanor charges for her involvement in the October 4th car accident that killed an elderly woman.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Department reported that Mars was driving westbound on Route 50 in Aldie, Virginia when her Porche SUV crossed over into the eastbound lane and hit a Chrysler minivan head-on. The minivan had six people aboard, one of which was 86-year-old Irene Ellisor of Huntsville, Texas. Ellisor died at the scene.

Mars is scheduled to appear in court on December 5th.
