Twenty people were reportedly injured after an escalator suddenly changed directions in San Antonio the afternoon of May 15.
According to reports, at least 20 people tumbled down over each other after the escalator they were riding in the Henry B. Gonzalez Center suddenly stopped and changed direction. Fourteen of the victims were hospitalized due to injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
Convention Center spokeswoman Andrea DeLaune said some visitors attending a GameStop expo were injured last August after an escalator malfunction occurred. A maintenance worker in the convention center who does not want to be identified said it was the same escalator that recently malfunctioned.
