Texas-based, Food Source L.P, has recalled nearly 11,400 pounds of chicken after it was discovered that there were foreign materials in the food. The incident was investigated after two reports were made by consumers that they found plastic pieces in their food.
The recalled product is called “Bremer Party Size White Meat Chicken Enchiladas” and has a best by date of 9/30/13. The potentially affected items were packaged on August 31, 2011 and shipped to stores in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York.
There have been no injuries reported from the ingestion of foreign particles, but consumers are being urged by safety officials to not eat the recalled products. Officials with the company have announced that consumers who have purchased the product can return it for a full refund.
When shopping at a local grocery store, people are filled with a strong sense of security that the food they are purchasing is safe for consumption. When we hear news of contaminated food items, we are disappointed that the manufacturers are not doing their best to keep the American people safe from harm.
