SAPD officer hit by car and in critical condition

Jonathan Esquivel, 28, of the San Antonio Police Department was hit by a pickup truck on Sunday evening and is in critical condition.

Esquivel was placing traffic cones at the scene of an earlier crash in the westbound lane of Loop 410 near Summit Parkway when Shad Christopher Modesett, 40, avoided hitting other vehicles on the road and hit Esquivel.  Modesett was given a $100 ticket for speeding but was not charged for hitting Esquivel.  Modesett stated that he “looked away momentarily” and swerved.

Police also suspect that cell phone was a factor in the accident.

Singing diva, Whitney Houston, will be buried on Saturday in New Jersey

San Antonio car accident lawyers of Chris Mayo Injury Lawyers are disheartened to announce the passing of Whitney Houston.

Whitney Houston, singing legend, passed away on Saturday afternoon in Beverly Hills, CA at the Beverly Hilton hotel.  She was found in her bathtub of her suite just a few hours before she was supposed to attend a Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in the same hotel.

The funeral will be held in Newark, New Jersey at New Hope Baptist Church, and it will be broadcast on television and streamed live on the internet.  The service is invite-only.  Aretha Franklin, Whitney’s godmother, will sing a song, and a choir of famous singers will also perform.

7 San Antonio police officers being investigated

Seven South Texas police officers, whose names were not revealed, have been put under investigation for allegedly covering up a car accident of an off-duty sergeant.

None of the officers are facing charges, and according to San Antonio police Chief William McManus, the sergeant driving involved in the accident was put on administrative leave after he hit a highway wall in his patrol car on Thursday.  Alcohol is believed to be involved.

The other officers are now on administrative duty after they attempted to cover up potential evidence from the officers’ vehicle.

There was minor damage to the patrol car and an officer who was not involved in the cover up reported it.

2012 Super Bowl on Sunday in Indianapolis

On Sunday Feb 5, the New England Patriots will play the New York Giants in the 2012 Super Bowl.  The Giants and Patriots faced off four years ago in 2008 at the Super Bowl, and the Giants took home the prize.

This season, the Patriots enter the game with a 15-3 record having won 10 games in a row.  The Giants have a 12-7 record and upset top-seeded Green Bay Packers and the second-seeded San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC Championship.
