Two people were killed and two others injured in a San Antonio car accident Sunday.
According to officials with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes of Southton Road. Deputies say an SUV was traveling west on the Southton when it veered off the road, crossed over the median, struck a tree, and came to rest upside-down in a field. The vehicle then bust into flames.
“We had two occupants in the vehicle who were ejected and transported to a local hospital,” Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Mario Cervantes said. “We had two other occupants in the vehicle as well. They were trapped.”
According to the accident report, the two men who were ejected were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. Medical examiners will have to determine the identities of the two people who were killed.
Officials say speed may have been a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department.
