A new state law for child safety in cars went into effect June 1. According to the law, all children younger than eight or shorter than 4’9″ must be secured in a safety seat or booster seat.
For parents who violate the law, they could face a fine of $250. The law was intended to improve child safety in vehicles, which are equipped with seat belts better suited for adults.
