According to San Antonio police, one of their officers is recovering from a crash that occurred last Monday night on Loop 410 on the West Side.

The accident happened as the officer was heading eastbound on the Loop 410 access road between Culebra and Ingram. The officer says that he crashed into a woman’s car after she cut him off abruptly, giving him inadequate time to slow down.

Both the officer and woman sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

As of now it is unknown whether or not the officer was subjected to field tests for sobriety. Chief of Police Bill McManus’ new policy that all officers involved in road accidents be tested for drugs and alcohol is only a month old.
