Yamaha faces hundreds of lawsuits for all-terrain vehicle

Posted on August 19th, 2009 No Comments

Yamaha Motor Co. is facing a lawsuit for an allegedly “unreasonably dangerous” all-terrain vehicle. The lawsuit claims that Yamaha knew its product was dangerous and failed to fix the design of the Rhino.

Forest Ray, a boy from Orange, Texas, was killed while riding the vehicle, which looks like a cross between a golf cart and ATV. Ray’s death is one of 59 in the United States.

Yamaha is facing about 500 lawsuits for accidents related to use of the Rhino. About two-thirds of the 500 lawsuits are related to rollovers.
