Kevin Stouwie
Kevin has been a licensed attorney in Texas since November, 1998. Prior to his career in law, Kevin served in the U.S. Navy as a missile fire control technician. After his military service, Kevin attended Marquette University on a full scholarship, and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Upon graduation, Kevin was accepted into the St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1998. He then took and passed the Texas Bar Exam and promptly opened his own law office. Since then, he has dedicated himself to helping the victims of personal injury accidents secure the compensation they deserve from negligent individuals, companies, and institutions.
In 2002, Kevin joined forces with attorney Chris Mayo and together they formed the law firm Stouwie & Mayo, PLLC. Since he began practicing law, Kevin has successfully represented hundreds of injured people in many different types of cases. In 2007, Kevin was honored with the distinction of Board Certification in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. According to the statistics available from the State Bar and the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, approximately 10% of all attorneys in the state of Texas are Board Certified in any specific area of expertise.
In order to be Board Certified in a specialty area, an attorney must complete the following:
- Be licensed to practice law for at least five years;
- Devote a required percentage of practice to a specialty area for at least three years;
- Handle a wide variety of matters in the area to demonstrate experience and involvement;
- Attend continuing education seminars regularly to keep legal training up to date;
- Be evaluated by fellow lawyers and judges;
- Pass a 6-hour written examination.
Kevin is also a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. He is also admitted to practice in all Texas State Courts, and the United States Federal District Courts for the Western District of Texas.
Outside of the courtroom and his work, Kevin remains active with his wife Lucia. They reside in San Antonio with their three daughters, one son, two dogs, and two cats.
